Dongfeng Nissan is showcasing the latest of its powertrains at the ongoing Guangzhou auto show, which are expected to power more models at the Chinese-Japanese joint venture.

The company's booth highlights the VC-Turbo engine, the emission-free electric technology and the e-Power, which is Nissan's proprietary innovation that combines an electric motor with a petrol engine that charges the battery.

Dongfeng Nissan said at least three models featuring such powertrains are expected to hit the market in 2021.

The VC-Turbo engine is the world's first variable compression ratio engine. It has been powering the 7th-generation Teana and is expected to be equipped on more China-made vehicles.

Dongfeng Nissan said it will speed up introduction of the e-Power vehicles into China as well.

The carmaker sold 116,072 vehicles in October, up 7.4 percent year-on-year. It has seen sales growth for seven months in a row.

Earlier this year, Nissan Motor announced plans to launch a slew of new vehicles, including electric cars, in the growing Chinese market over the next five years, which could help the Japanese automaker return to profit.

"The recovery in the Chinese market has been very remarkable, and our key segments have returned to the previous year's level if not slightly better," said Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida.
