Nov 17: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Nov 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 15 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 6 in Sichuan province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Shandong province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 36 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 581 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Nov 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 3,716 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,382 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 334 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Nov 16, the National Health Commission had received reports of 86,361 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 81,374 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 353 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 874,106 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 13,995 were still under medical observation.
On Nov 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 12 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 45 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 19 imported cases) and 3 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Nov 16, 512 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 406 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Nov 16, 6,115 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,466 in Hong Kong (108 had died and 5,198 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 603 in Taiwan (7 had died and 536 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
