Oct 20: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Guangdong province, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Chongqing municipality), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 10 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 301 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Oct 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 3,142 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,897 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 245 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 6 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Oct 19, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,704 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,812 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 258 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 6 suspected cases. 846,829 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,431 were still under medical observation.
On Oct 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 24 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 20 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Oct 19, 403 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 402 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Oct 19, 5,842 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,256 in Hong Kong (105 had died and 4,982 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 540 in Taiwan (7 had died and 493 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
