I. Households' Income
In the first three quarters, China's per capita disposable income reached 23,781 yuan ($3,557.64), a nominal increase of 3.9 percent over the same period of last year. After deducting the price factor, the actual increase was 0.6 percent. Among them, the per capita disposable income of urban residents was 32,821 yuan, an increase of 2.8 percent (if there is no special explanation below, it is a year-on-year nominal growth rate). After deducting the price factor, the actual decrease was 0.3 percent; the per capita disposable income of rural households was 12,297 yuan, an increase of 5.8 percent, and the actual increase was 1.6 percent after deducting the price factor.
In the first three quarters, the median per capita disposable income of Chinese households was 20,512 yuan, an increase of 3.2 percent, and the median was 86.3 percent of the average. Among them, the median per capita disposable income of urban households was 30,015 yuan, an increase of 2.4 percent, and the median was 91.5 percent of the average; the median per capita disposable income of rural households was 10,650 yuan, an increase of 4.7 percent, and the median was 86.6 percent of the average.
According to the source of income, in the first three quarters, the per capita wage income of national households reached 13,486 yuan, increased by 3.6 percent, accounting for 56.7 percent of the disposable income; the per capita net operating income was 3,680 yuan, down 2.0 percent, accounting for 15.5 percent of the disposable income; the per capita net property income was 2,090 yuan, an increase of 7.2 percent, accounting for 8.8 percent of the disposable income; the per capita net transfer income was 4,525 yuan, an increase of 8.9 percent, accounting for 19.0 percent of the disposable income.
II. Consumption Expenditure of Households
In the first three quarters, China's per capita consumption expenditure was 14,923 yuan, down 3.5 percent in nominal terms compared with the same period last year. After deducting the price factor, the actual decrease was 6.6 percent. Among them, the per capita consumption expenditure of urban households was 19,247 yuan, a decrease of 5.6 percent, after deducting the price factor, the actual decrease was 8.4 percent; the per capita consumption expenditure of rural households was 9,430 yuan, an increase of 0.8 percent, and the actual decrease was 3.2 percent after deducting the price factor.
In the first three quarters, the per capita consumption expenditure on food, tobacco and alcohol was 4,546 yuan, an increase of 5.5 percent, accounting for 30.5 percent of the per capita consumption expenditure; the per capita clothing consumption expenditure was 847 yuan, down 11.9 percent, accounting for 5.7 percent of the per capita consumption expenditure; the per capita residential consumption expenditure was 3,736 yuan, an increase of 3.6 percent, accounting for 25.0 percent of the per capita consumption expenditure; and the per capita consumption expenditure on daily necessities and services was 896 yuan, down 3.3 percent, accounting for 6.0 percent of the per capita consumption expenditure; the per capita transportation and communication consumption expenditure was 1,955 yuan, a decrease of 5.9 percent, accounting for 13.1 percent of the per capita consumption expenditure; the per capita education, culture and entertainment consumption expenditure was 1,276 yuan, a decrease of 27.7 percent, accounting for 8.6 percent of the per capita consumption expenditure; the per capita medical and health care consumption expenditure was 1,338 yuan, decreased by 5.4 percent, accounting for 9.0 percent of the per capita consumption expenditure; the per capita other consumption expenditure was RMB 1338, decreased by 5.4 percent, accounting for 9.0 percent of the per capita consumption; the expenditure consumer spending on goods and services was 328 yuan, down 18.1 percent, accounting for 2.2 percent of per capita consumption expenditure.

Disposable income of Households refers to the sum of final consumption expenditure and savings that residents can use, that is, the income that residents can use for free disposal, including both cash income and physical income. According to the source of income, disposable income includes wage and salary income, net business income, net property income and net transfer income.
2. Consumer spending refers to all the expenditures that residents use to meet their daily needs, including both cash and physical consumption. Consumer spending includes eight categories: food, tobacco and alcohol, clothing, housing, daily necessities and services, transportation and communication, education, culture and recreation, medical care and other supplies and services.
3. The median of the nationwide per capita disposable income of households refers to the per capita disposable income of households which lies in the middle of all surveyed households ranked from low to high on the basis of per capita disposable income level.
