Sept 16: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 12 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 4 in Sichuan province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Guangdong province, 1 in Yunnan province and 1 in Shaanxi province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 11 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 569 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.
As of 24:00 on Sept 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,665 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,522 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 143 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Sept 15, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,214 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,437 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 143 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 824,092 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,576 were still under medical observation.
On Sept 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 16 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 14 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 15, 361 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 360 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Sept 15, 5,520 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,975 in Hong Kong (102 had died and 4,646 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 499 in Taiwan (7 had died and 476 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
