Huang Jiansong, 30, is a pottery artist in Southwest China’s Guizhou Province. Huang liked to observe local houses and memorize their patterns and characteristics when he went to different places since he attended university. He gradually came up with the idea of making models of traditional dwellings using earthenware. He began to use his hometown house as prototypes, combined with the characteristic Tunpu architecture of Anshun to create earthenware dwellings, and made small objects, such as bacon and hoes, with earthenware. In 2018, he made a short video of his work Earthenware Dwellings and published it on a network platform, attracting many netizens' attention.

Up to now, the series of short videos he’s made have played more than 100 million times. Many netizens said that the videos help them recall their hometowns and found memories of their own childhood in his works. Huang said he hopes his models will not only arouse nostalgia, but also lead to inheritance of earthenware craft and Chinese traditional architectural culture.
