Sept 8: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 10 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 5 in Sichuan province, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Shaanxi province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 15 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 336 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Sept 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,595 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,420 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 175 confirmed cases (including 2 in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on Sept 7, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,144 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,335 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 175 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 820,007 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,552 were still under medical observation.
On Sept 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 13 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 16 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 10 imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 7, 324 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 322 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Sept 7, 5,429 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,889 in Hong Kong (98 had died and 4,524 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 494 in Taiwan (7 had died and 475 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
