Sept 7: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 12 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Guangdong province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Chongqing municipality), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 18 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 646 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Sept 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,585 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,408 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 177 confirmed cases (including 2 in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on Sept 6, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,134 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,320 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 180 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 819,075 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 5,959 were still under medical observation.
On Sept 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 17 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 16 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 15 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Sept 6, 329 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 321 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Sept 6, 5,417 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,878 in Hong Kong (96 had died and 4,511 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 493 in Taiwan (7 had died and 473 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
