Sept 6: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 10 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Guangdong province, 3 in Shaanxi province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Gansu province), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 18 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,445 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Sept 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,573 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,397 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 176 confirmed cases (including 2 in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Sept 5, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,122 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,302 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 186 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 818,580 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,110 were still under medical observation.
On Sept 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 17 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 25 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 23 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Sept 5, 329 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 320 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Sept 5, 5,395 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,857 in Hong Kong (94 had died and 4,493 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 492 in Taiwan (7 had died and 473 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
