Sept 5: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 10 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Shaanxi province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 21 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 931 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.
As of 24:00 on Sept 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,563 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,383 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 180 confirmed cases (including 2 in serious condition) and no suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Sept 4, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,112 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,284 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 194 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 818,203 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,180 were still under medical observation.
On Sept 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 8 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 28 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 26 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 4, 338 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 327 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Sept 4, 5,386 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,850 in Hong Kong (94 had died and 4,456 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 490 in Taiwan (7 had died and 471 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
