Aug 12: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 11, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 25 new cases of confirmed infections (16 imported cases, 6 in Guangdong province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 9 indigenous cases in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 58 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,385 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 4.

As of 24:00 on Aug 11, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,216 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,058 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 158 confirmed cases (including 1 in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 11, the National Health Commission had received reports of 84,737 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 79,342 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 761 confirmed cases (including 40 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 802,908 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 23,039 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 11, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 20 new asymptomatic cases (including 12 imported cases). 15 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 6 imported cases) and 2 cases became confirmed cases (both were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 11, 288 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 141 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 11, 4,707 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,181 in Hong Kong (58 had died and 3,052 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 480 in Taiwan (7 had died and 443 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
