The women's federation of Jiangxi province began to recruit women volunteers to aid the relief work in disaster-hit areas throughout east China's Jiangxi province on July 17.

Up till now, the province's women's federation has recruited more than 300 women volunteers, forming a reserve volunteer team and others that are able to provide the seven targeted voluntary services of health care, disease control and epidemic prevention, psychological counseling, legal consulting, children's education, agricultural technology and culture and sports to disaster affected people.

The first group of women volunteers started off on their task in a temporary settlement on July 20. During the departure ceremony, leaders of the province's women's federation conferred flags on the representatives of the eight volunteers' teams, hoping them to help the disaster affected people with their professional knowledge as well as pay attention to their own safety.

After the ceremony, the first 21 women volunteers were dispatched to the resettlement site in Hudong Primary School in Yongxiu county, Jiujiang city.

Every woman volunteer was ready and primed for the action. Xu Na, deputy chief of the volunteers' team for children's education, intended to give the children a science lesson on insects to let them feel the beauty of nature. Wu Yulin, deputy chief of the volunteers' team for health care, planned to help people in disaster-stricken areas overcome difficulties through offering free clinical treatment and publicizing health knowledge. Chen Hong, leader of the volunteers' team for psychological counseling, prepared to help locals rebuild confidence and find hope through psychological counseling services.

The province's women's federation established an "order-based" voluntary service network throughout the province, in which the women's federations in the disaster-affected areas can report their needs based on their actual situations, and relevant professional women volunteers will be dispatched to the areas to offer voluntary services according to their demands.
