"Global Youth Turing Program" launched

The Global Youth Turing Program was officially unveiled at the Zhongguancun Exhibition Center on July 22.

The official website of the Program was also launched (www.TuringYouth.com). It offers public welfare classes for the cultivation of innovation in youths, including open classes given by masters and scientists, and basic artificial intelligence classes.

The Global Youth Turing Program is a public welfare program for the cultivation of young scientific and technological talents. It was initiated by the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee and was jointly sponsored by the Gaoling School of Artificial Intelligence of Renmin University of China, the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China, and the Cultural Science Park of Renmin University of China.

Focusing on cutting-edge technologies such as AI+, the Program will discover, track, and cultivate middle school students who show special talents in technological innovation and applications worldwide.

The program starts in July every year, and lasts for three months. The theme of the first session is "The World and I·Future Turing". The main activities include the selection and training of young scientific and technological talents, the global youth innovation summit and the award ceremony.

Students from many foreign middle schools including Princeton International School of Mathematics and Science, Westminster School, and Upper Canada College will participate in the event.

Methodist Ladies College, Tsun Jin High School, River Valley High School, Kaohsiung Municipal Girls' Senior High School, Pui Ching Middle School Macau, Qingdao No. 2 Middle School, Beijing Academy, and the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China will attend the debate.

Pan Yunhe, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Zhang Yaqin, academician of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, will serve as chairmen of the committee. Anthony Cohen, academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Turing AI Institute, and deans of the school of artificial intelligence of Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Zhejiang University and Shanghai Jiaotong University will serve as committee members.

The program will give full range support covering middle school study, university study, studying abroad, employment, and business establishment.

A dual training model featuring experts' guidance and coaches' mentoring has also been created. During the event, youths will participate in scientific research projects.

They will be guided by teaching teams of well-known universities and middle schools such as Renmin University of China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, theBeijing Institute of Technology, Renmin University of China, and Beijing No. 80 High School, and study public welfare classes and public classes given by masters for free.

In addition, world-class middle schools will be invited to host online debate and exchange summits so as to deepen public interest in artificial intelligence. The projects of the professional group will focus on the current epidemic.
