July 22: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new cases of confirmed infections (5 imported cases, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guangdong province and 1 in Yunnan province; 9 indigenous cases in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 23 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 434 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on July 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,020 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,940 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 80 confirmed cases (including 2 in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on July 21, the National Health Commission had received reports of 83,707 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 78,840 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 233 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 772,804 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,988 were still under medical observation.

On July 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 22 new asymptomatic cases (including 8 imported cases). 7 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 4 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on July 21, 164 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 84 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 21, 2,519 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 2,018 in Hong Kong (14 had died and 1,324 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 455 in Taiwan (7 had died and 440 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
