The China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF) held a meeting for the promotion of basic public service standards for people with disabilities on July 9.

The meeting summarized the work progress in the first half of the year, and initiated work on the standardization of services for people with disabilities in the second half.

Zhou Changkui, chairman of the CDPF, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. The meeting was chaired by Cheng Kai, vice-chairman of the CDPF.

Zhou pointed out that service standardization plays a fundamental, strategic and leading role in the modernization of the national governance system and governance capability. Accelerating the standardization of services for people with disabilities is not only an inevitable requirement for implementation of the national standardization strategy, but also fulfills the responsibilities of the CDPF.

The CDPF should promote the establishment of a national technical committee to speed up the formulation and revision of standards for urgently needed services forpeoplewith disabilities.

The meeting heard reports on standardization in several projects such as rural poverty alleviation and disability assistance bases, the service norms for start-up and incubation bases for disabled people, the setting up of secondary vocational schools for disabled people, and making of guidelines for the protection of people with disabilities from COVID-19 infection.

Progress was also noted in the preparation and revision of standardization works such as service guides.

Cheng pointed out that the work of preparing and revising these standards will meet the needs of people with disabilities for epidemic prevention and control, poverty alleviation, and attendance at educational facilities in the future. They are required to be issued as soon as possible.
