July 21: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 11 new cases of confirmed infections (3 imported cases, 2 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Sichuan province; 8 indigenous cases, 7 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and 1 in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 18 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 251 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 2.
As of 24:00 on July 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,015 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,935 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 80 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on July 20, the National Health Commission had received reports of 83,693 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 78,817 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 242 confirmed cases (including 7 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 772,488 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,108 were still under medical observation.
On July 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 6 new asymptomatic cases (including 1 imported case). 10 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 7 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on July 20, 149 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 80 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on July 20, 2,459 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,958 in Hong Kong (12 had died and 1,302 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 455 in Taiwan (7 had died and 440 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
