April 8: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 7, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 62 new cases of confirmed infections (59 imported cases and 3 indigenous cases, 2 in Shandong province and 1 in Guangdong province), 12 new cases of suspected infections (11 imported cases and 1 indigenous case in Guangdong), and 2 deaths (1 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Hubei province). 112 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,295 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 22.
As of 24:00 on April 7, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,042 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 328 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 714 confirmed cases (including 23 in serious condition) and 82 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on April 7, the National Health Commission had received 81,802 reports of confirmed cases and 3,333 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 77,279 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,190 confirmed cases (including 189 in serious condition) and 83 suspected cases. So far, 715,854 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 13,334 are now under medical observation.
On April 7, Hubei reported no new cases of confirmed infections, no new cases of suspected infections, and 1 death (in Wuhan). 69 patients (all in Wuhan) were released from hospital after being cured.
As of 24:00 on April 7, Hubei had reported 67,803 cases of confirmed infections (including 50,008 in Wuhan) and 3,213 deaths (2,572 in Wuhan). In all, 64,142 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 46,991 in Wuhan. There still remained 448 confirmed cases (including 445 in Wuhan), with 158 in serious condition (including 155 in Wuhan). There were no suspected cases.
On April 7, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 137 new asymptomatic cases (including 102 imported cases). 64 asymptomatic cases were freed from quarantine (including 8 imported cases) and 11 became confirmed cases (all are imported cases). As of 24:00 on April 7, 1,095 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 358 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on April 7, 1,355 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 935 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 236 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 44 in Macao (10 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 376 in Taiwan (5 had been dead and 61 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
