April 5: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 4, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 30 new cases of confirmed infections (25 imported cases and 5 indigenous cases in Guangdong province), 11 new cases of suspected infections (all are imported cases), and 3 deaths (all in Hubei province). 213 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,869 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 36.
As of 24:00 on April 4, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 913 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 216 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 697 confirmed cases (including 18 in serious condition) and 107 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on April 4, the National Health Commission had received 81,669 reports of confirmed cases and 3,329 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 76,964 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,376 confirmed cases (including 295 in serious condition) and 107 suspected cases. So far, 713,110 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 17,436 are now under medical observation.
On April 4, Hubei reported no new cases of confirmed infections, no new cases of suspected infections, and 3 deaths (all in Wuhan). 183 patients (all in Wuhan) were released from hospital after being cured.
As of 24:00 on April 4, Hubei had reported 67,803 cases of confirmed infections (including 50,008 in Wuhan) and 3,210 deaths (including 2,570 in Wuhan). In all, 63,945 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 46,794 in Wuhan. There still remained 648 confirmed cases (including 644 in Wuhan), with 267 in serious condition (including 264 in Wuhan). There were no suspected cases.
On April 4, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 47 new asymptomatic cases (including 16 imported cases). 50 asymptomatic cases were freed from quarantine (including 8 imported cases) and 3 became confirmed cases (all are imported cases). As of 24:00 on April 4, 1,024 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 244 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on April 4, 1,261 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 862 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 186 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 44 in Macao (10 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 355 in Taiwan (5 had been dead and 50 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
