The most important and the first achievement China has made during the last two months is in science and the second is the openness of the Chinese government, said a medical expert.

Cao Bin, vice-president of China-Japan Friendship Hospital, made the remarks at a recent COVID-19-themed news conference held by the State Council Information Office.

"I believe that many doctors, researchers, and scientists in Wuhan, and in other cities of China, contributed a lot to the knowledge of the new disease."

According to Cao, Chinese doctors and scientists got to know the disease through three ways - the clinical data, the pathology, and the basic science.

He mentioned that from the very beginning, the Chinese government has had face-to-face connection with the WHO.

"I'm the person to introduce our clinical findings to WHO from the first cohort of the cases. And I also got e-mails from foreign physicians, whom I've known for many years and told me 'Cao Bin, I got to know the disease through your publication.'" He noted.
