59.3 pct of cases heard by video in China amid epidemic: SPC

BEIJING -- Courts across China are doing their jobs via non-contact means amid the novel coronavirus outbreak, and about 59.3 percent of the cases were heard by video during the epidemic, according to the country's top court.

The courts around the country have been conducting litigation activities online to reduce the flow and gathering of people to prevent the spread of the virus, said an official with the Supreme People's Court (SPC) in a statement March 11.

The SPC on March 11 also published 10 typical cases involving crimes that harm prevention and control efforts against the epidemic.

The 10 cases involve several types of crimes including obstructing the prevention and treatment of the infectious diseases, obstructing the epidemic prevention personnels from performing their duties and even killing the personnels, fabricating or intentionally spreading false epidemic information and illegally hunting and killing wild animals.
