4. Li Jiren, traditional Chinese medicine master
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), a treasure of traditional Chinese culture that emphasizes integrative health, boasts a history of some 3,000 years.
Li Jiren, a famed TCM master based in East China's Anhui province, is the 14th-generation inheritor of Zhang Yitie, a TCM school dating back to the Ming dynasty established by Zhang Shouren, who made a name for his effective prescriptions. Li started to learn TCM at 12 and later married the daughter of the 13th-generation inheritor of Zhang Yitie. Since then, the doctor has been committed to sustaining the lineage of Zhang Yitie with his wife, as well as pushing the envelope of TCM for a better future.
