2. Sales of commercial buildings

In 2019, the sales area of commercial buildings was 1.72 billion square meters, down by 0.1 percent over the previous year, up 0.2 percent from January to November, and up 1.3 percent from the previous year. Among them, the sales area of residential buildings increased by 1.5 percent, the sales area of office buildings decreased by 14.7 percent, and the sales area of commercial buildings decreased by 15.0 percent. The sales volume of commercial buildings reached 15.97 trillion yuan, an increase of 6.5 percent, 0.8 percentage points lower than that from January to November, and 5.7 percentage points lower than that of the previous year. Specifically, the sales of residential buildings increased by 10.3 percent, office buildings decreased by 15.1 percent, and buildings for commercial businesses decreased by 16.5 percent.

In 2019, the sales area of commercial buildings in the eastern regions was 666.07 million square meters, down 1.5 percent over the previous year, 0.2 percentage points higher than that from January to November; the sales volume was 8.38 trillion yuan, up by 5.8 percent, and the growth rate dropped 1.3 percentage points. The sales area of commercial buildings in the central regions was 500.37 million square meters, down by 1.3 percent, with a 1.0 percentage point increase; the sales volume was 3.55 trillion yuan, up by 4.9 percent, with a 0.7 percentage points decrease. The sales area of commercial buildings in the western regions was 474.1 million square meters, an increase of 4.4 percent, with a growth rate of 0.6 percent; the sales volume was 3.45 trillion yuan, with a growth rate of 10.8 percent, and a rate increase of 0.2 percentage points. The sales area of commercial buildings in northeast China was 75.03 million square meters, down by 5.3 percent, with a rate decrease of 0.8 percentage points; the sales volume was 589.9 billion yuan, up by 2.8 percent, a decline of 0.6 percentage points.

By the end of 2019, the area for sale of commercial housing was 498.21 million square meters, an increase of 6 million square meters over the end of November, and a decrease of 25.93 million square meters over the end of last year. The area for sale of residential buildings increased by 1.92 million square meters over the end of November, office buildings increased by 1.05 million square meters, and buildings for business use increased by 840 thousand square meters.
