Located in Yanqing district of Beijing, the Longqingxia Gorge (Longqing Xia) enjoys picturesque scenery resembling that of the Li River in Southwest China’s Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. The eminent peaks, the clear water and lush vegetation constitute more than 30 gorgeous natural scenic spots, including the Buddha Mountain, the Bell Mountain, the Phoenix Coronet Isle and the Moon Bay, offering an ideal place for recreation.
Due to its special geographic conditions, the gorge enjoys a cool climate in winter. It also has a longer period of iciness and attracts many ice art festivals annually.
The surrounding temples add a more solemn tone to the area. The Courtyard of Gods, the Peak of Jade Emperor and the Temple of Vajras are all shrouded in a grove of trees in the mountains.
Besides a boat ride exploring the beautiful scenery of the gorge, visitors can also entertain themselves by sliding and hiking.
