China Children Art Theatre is where the China National Theatre for Children (CNTC) is based. Located in the busy commercial area of Wangfujing, it is the only State-level children's art theater directly affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The late honorary president of China, Soong Ching Ling (1893-1981), inscribed the name of the theatre.
The theater shoulders the mission of enlightening Chinese children and teenagers with theatrical arts, and is committed to putting on numerous classic drama plays for them.
The theater is equipped with advanced stage facilities, including a computer programmable lighting system, surround sound system and computer-controlled rotating and lifting stages. It enjoys high domestic popularity and wide recognition.
There are a total of 723 seats in the two-storey auditorium that can accommodate both drama performances and concerts. In recent years, it has put on shows presented by over a hundred performing troupes and companies domestically and overseas.
The theater building in the night looks like a fairy tale castle of the Baroque style. It has presented mysterious and beautiful stories to countless children, helping them to build life-long cherished dreams.
