The Chongqing Grand Theater is located in the Jiangbeizui Central Business District of Chongqing, facing the Chaotianmen Dock across the river. It is designed with the themed a “solitary sail”.
The surface of the building is made of light green acrylic glass and its shape resembles a “ spacetime airship”, meaning that it will sail from the past to the future.
The theater covers an area of 66,700 square meters and has a total building area of 104,500 square meters. It is equipped with first-class software and hardware facilities that meet universal standards and can accommodate even the most advanced shows. The building is divided into seven floors above ground and two floors underground, with a total height of 64 meters.
The large-size theater hall, with 1,830 seats (including an orchestra pit with the capacity of 88 seats), is the venue for large-scale operas, dances, ballets and symphonies, while the medium-size theater hall, with 930 seats (including 75 seats when the orchestra pit is filled), is mainly used for dramas, plays and concerts.
The facility also provides rental services for rehearsals, conferences and banquets.
