The National Theater of China is an affiliated organization under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It contains three modern theaters that can stage dramas and operas in various styles and scales.
The grand theater, the biggest one of the three, is a first-class national theater with 880 seats. Inspired by traditional Chinese architecture and stage elements, the theater as a whole demonstrates an elegant and clean ambience.
At the center of the stage, there is a drum-type revolving stage with a diameter of 16 meters, equipped with three sets of double-layer lifting modules, which can be lifted, rotated and tilted at any angle. Besides, 62 scene poles and light rods with ultra-large capacity are installed above the stage, which fulfills the requirements for large-scale dramas. The elevating orchestra pit in front of the stage is also split into three separate elevating areas including the left, right and middle parts to accommodatedifferent performances. In addition, the theater's advanced lighting systems, stereo equipment and acoustic design contribute to an extraordinary experience for the audience.
The small theater covers an area of 450 square meters and can accommodate 301 spectators. It embraces a whole set of theatrical equipment including lighting facilities, stereo systems and other accessories. Its advanced movable seat system enables an automatic lift and removal of the seats in a few minutes, making the theatre a versatile space for multiple purposes.
The Avant-garde Theater is located in the northeast corner of the Oriental Plaza architectural compound on East Chang'an Avenue in the heart of Beijing. The theater can accommodate 320 people and is one of the sub theaters of the National Theater of China. It can hold dramas, modern dance, indoor concerts and can also host various reports, lectures, product presentations and press conferences.
