Day Four Mulan Cultural and Ecological Scenic Spot
Apart from cultural relic sites, the natural scenery in Wuhan is also worth checking out and the Mulan Cultural and Ecological Scenic Spot is highly recommended.
Mulan is the first name of Hua Mulan, who was born in Huangpi county where the scenic spot is situated. A warrior from the Northern and Southern dynasties period (420–589), she disguised herself as a man and took her aged father's place in the army.
The scenic spot is 30 km from downtown Wuhan. Featuring dense forest and crystal-clear lake water, the scenic spot is the perfect place to escape the summer heat.
The scenic spot is composed of four sections – Mulan Grassland, Mulan Mountain, Mulan Tianchi (Heavenly Lake) and Yunwu Mountain. Each section is so large that you can spend almost a whole day visiting.
In particular, Yunwu Mountain is the top location to soak in azalea blossoms. Every year when spring gives way to summer, the mountain is turned into a sea of azalea flowers, attracting scores of visitors.
