During this year's Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, which started Sept 13, Chinese tourists took 105 million domestic trips, up 7.6 percent year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The domestic tourism revenue reached 47.28 billion yuan ($6.69 billion), an increase of 8.7 percent over the same period last year.
Ctrip, China's largest online travel agency by revenue, said 25 percent of its customers traveled with loved ones, 21 percent with children and 12 percent with parents during the three-day holiday.
Customers from Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou booked the most domestic trips and customers from Beijing spent the most money during trips, with the average spending surpassing 2,500 yuan, Ctrip said.
