Inner Mongolia is considered to look its best over the summer months, when flowers bloom across the vast grasslands and birds take to the clear blue skies.

Summer is also the time for locals to carry out their nomadic ancestors' tradition of celebrating the Nadam ("recreation" in Mongolian) fair, where wrestling, horse-riding and archery events take place alongside folk dancing and singing.

The aim of the summer study tours is to bring young people to the region to experience these ethnic traditions and absorb the culture of the grasslands at close quarters.

"We focus on experiences, interaction, fun, science and education when we study Nadam culture and give classes about the grasslands to offer children healthy outdoor experiences, "Wei says.

The idea is to help them become more confident, friendly, open-minded and filial, he adds.

The study tours are available from more than 40 major travel agencies across the country.

The first group of travelers who booked summer packages this year will kick off their journeys in July, according to China CYTS Tours Holding Co, a partner of the region's tourism bureau.
