Location: Tai'an lies in the central part of East China's Shandong province, the southern foothills of Mount Tai.
Economy
Tai'an is blessed with unsurpassed tourist resources and has traditional advantage in mechanical and electrical products, textile, chemical industry, building materials, coal, electricity and food industry. In 2018, Tai'an recorded GDP of 365.15 billion yuan ($52.92 billion), a year-on-year increase of 5.7 percent. Tourism continued to be a pillar of the local economy. The number of domestic and foreign visitors to the city in 2018 rose by 10 percent, while the tourism consumption increased year-on-year by 13.4 percent.
There were 57 high-tech enterprises founded in Tai'an in 2018. The output value by the city's high-tech enterprises above designated size in 2018 increased by 8.51 percent year-on-year and accounted for 36.89 percent of the overall output value created by industrial enterprises above designated size.
The total volume of imports and exports stood at 16.08 billion yuan, of which 12.76 billion yuan was for exports, a year-on-year increase of 8.1 percent.
