SHANGHAI - An intelligent assistant system for criminal cases has helped handle over 31,000 criminal cases in Shanghai since its launch in July 2017, according to Shanghai Law Society.

The system can provide standardized and digitalized guidance when case-handling personnel collect evidence of a case. "It can check the logic of the chain of the evidence and point out logic flaws," said Cui Yadong, president of the society.

Meanwhile, Shanghai also launched an intelligent assistant system for civil, commercial and administrative cases in November 2017.

By the end of February this year, the system has been used to handle over 80,000 cases, mainly traffic cases, credit card disputes and administrative information disclosure issues.

In September 2018, Shanghai launched an initiative to promote the legal environment with artificial intelligence.
