National Working Committee on Children and Women under State Council

On February 22, 1990, the Coordination Committee for the Work of Children and Women of the State Council was established. It replaced the National Children’s Work Coordination Committee led by the All-China Women's Federation and became the State Council's advisory and coordinating office responsible for the work of women and children.

On August 4, 1993, the Coordination Committee for the Work of Children and Women of the State Council was renamed the National Working Committee on Children and Women under State Council. It is responsible for promoting the laws, regulations, policies and measures on women and children and women and children development programs.

Basic responsibilities:

1. Coordinating and advancing the protection of the rights and interests of women and children within relevant government departments;

2. Coordinating and advancing the formulation and implementation of development programs of women and children within relevant government departments;

3. Coordinating and advancing necessary human resources and financial and material resources support for women and children work within relevant government departments;

4. Guiding, supervising and inspecting the work of the working committees on children and women of the people's governments of all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government.
