Baishuiyang-Yuanyangxi Tourist Area, Fujian province

Baishuiyang–Yuanyangxi Tourist Area is located in Pingnan county, Ningde, Fujian province. The tourist attraction, which covers 66 square kilometers, contains five parts: Baishuiyang, Yuanyangxi, Liugong Rock, Taibaolou and Yuanyang Lake.
About 50 kilometers from the county, Baishuiyang is a globally unique shallow water square on the riverbed of a giant flat, smooth rock. There are no pebbles or sand. The square is divided into three parts, with the largest occupying 40,000 square meters.
The water is shallow, crystal-clear and cool, offering visitors of all ages an ideal place to play in the water, especially during summer. All kinds of water activities, including surfing, drifting, tug of war and racing, are available there. The scenery around Baishuiyang is spectacular, featuring green mountains and oddly shaped stones.
Yuanyangxi is downstream of Baishuiyang. Yuanyang means “mandarin duck” and xi means “river”. Annually, thousands of mandarin ducks migrate from the north to spend winter there, giving the river its name .
Yangyangxi is famous for its numerous waterfalls and lush forests, as well as the world’s only nature reserve for mandarin ducks and Chinese macaques. In addition, more than 10 national protected animals, such as white storks, clouded leopards, pythons and pangolins, also inhabit the area.
