Ordos publishes regulations to ban littering and illegal construction

A series of regulations aiming at combating the acts of disordered littering and illegal construction in rural areas in Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, were announced at a news conference held by the Standing Committee of Ordos Municipal People’s Congress, Nov 2.

The regulation contains 53 articles, and will take effect on January 1, 2019.

Any organization that litters at improper places will fined 500 yuan ($72) to 2,000 yuan, and any individual who breaks this regulation will be fined 50 yuan to 200 yuan, according to the regulations. 

Those organizations or individuals that move construction or industrial waste to rural areas that are not prescribed littering places will be fined 5000 yuan to 50,000 yuan. 

The regulations also make detailed statements on illegal construction in rural areas. 

The aim of the new regulations is to improve the living environment in the city’s rural areas.
