Cultural designs offer visitors to Shanxi more choices

Shanxi unveiled cultural and creative products for 2017 at Taiyuan Arts Museum on March 11, highlighting cultural features of Shanxi and encouraging cultural creation.

More than 1,260 collections of artwork by 212 companies and individuals were on display. Through online voting, expert selection and product trials since February 2017, creative products from 1,262 entries, such as office supplies made of Pingyao traditional polished lacquer and an original anime character named "Biyun Peach", were finally recognized.

The cultural and creative product release aimed to stimulate artists, cultural and creative companies and individuals to bring elements and inspiration about the Great Wall, Yellow River and Taihang Mountains into their creations and make more cultural and creative products which meet the needs of residents, according to Wang Ding, curator of Taiyuan Arts Museum.

"The homogenization phenomenon of tourism products is common in Shanxi as visitors tend to purchase local specialties including red dates and millets," said Guo Kai, president of Sanjin Cultural Tourism Group at the event.

"The new cultural and creative product release provides more choices for tourism product design and tourists visiting Shanxi," he added.

The Sanjin Cultural Tourism Group will open at least 100 shops for tourism products under a unified brand and logo all round Shanxi.
