China’s top health authorities held a working conference on improving medical services on Jan 3 in Beijing.

Li Bin, minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC), attended the conference, pointing out that over the past three years medical services have been improved tremendously.

Nowadays, people enjoy more sense of gain when seeing doctors, she said.

Li called for setting up five working mechanisms, including the appointment-driven service.

She said that medical services can be improved in ten areas, including the mode of multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment.

Medical staff should also be motivated to offer better services, she added.

The conference reviewed the country's overall efforts to improve medical services from 2015 to 2017 and set goals for the period of 2018-2020.

Presided over by Wang Hesheng, vice minister of the NHFPC and director of the Health Care Reform Office under the State Council, or China’s Cabinet, the conference attracted officials from provincial-level health authorities and representatives from the Peking Union Medical College.

A list of models in improving medical services was also released at the meeting.
