China Import and Export Fair

China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, has a history dating back to 1957. Hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the People's Government of Guangdong province, and organized by China Foreign Trade Center, it is a biannual event held every spring and autumn in Guangzhou, in South China's Guangdong province.
Canton Fair is a comprehensive international trading event with the longest history, the largest scale, the most complete exhibit variety, the largest number of participants and the greatest business turnover in China.
By the 124th session, the cumulative export turnover of the fair was about US$133.6 billion, and the number of overseas buyers was about 8.6 million. The scale of each Canton Fair is 1.185 million square meters, with nearly 25,000 exhibitors from home and abroad, and about 200,000 overseas buyers from more than 210 countries and regions.

Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation

The Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation (the Guangzhou Award) is co-sponsored by the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), the World Association of Major Metropolises and the city of Guangzhou. It aims to recognize innovation in improving social, economic and environmental sustainability in cities and regions and, in so doing, to advance the prosperity and quality of life of their citizens.
The Guangzhou Award, presented biennially, is open to all cities and local governments with successful initiatives in urban innovation. Initiatives entered for the Guangzhou Award should be ongoing or recently completed (within the past two years) projects, measures or policies that produce practical effects or substantial influences, and boast originality, exemplariness and transferability.
The assessment of each cycle's Guangzhou Award is conducted by independent international experts. The technical committee selects up to 15 shortlisted cities and no more than 30 deserving cities from approved applications. From the shortlist, the jury makes a final selection of up to five award-winning cities. Each winner is granted a prize of $20,000, a trophy and a commemorative certificate.
Since 2012, four sessions of the Guangzhou Award have been held, each of which receives entries from more than 150 cities in over 50 countries and regions. It has become a treasure trove of over 1,000 initiatives which cover a wide range of areas, including infrastructure and public services, participatory planning and good governance, partnerships, technology, resilience, social inclusion and gender equality.

China (Guangzhou) International Documentary Film Festival

The China (Guangzhou) International Documentary Film Festival was founded in 2003 and was hosted by the State Administration of Radio and Television and Guangdong Provincial People's Government, Guangzhou municipal people's government and Guangdong provincial radio and television bureau. It is the only national professional platform with documentary investment, financing and trading functions. It has focused on documentary festivals and exhibitions for 16 years and has created a comprehensive cultural event integrating evaluation awards, training and forums.
As one of eight major international documentary professional festivals, it has established friendly relations with more than 40 internationally renowned documentary film festivals and institutions. The 2018 China (Guangzhou) International Documentary Film Festival has collected works from 122 countries and regions on five continents with 4,542 works being shown at the event. Over the past decade, the festival has nurtured and supported a number of new Chinese documentary filmmakers who have emerged in China and internationally. More than 140 Chinese documentary film directors have won international co-production financing or referral opportunities through this exchange platform.
The 2019 China (Guangzhou) International Documentary Film Festival will be held from Dec 9 to 12.
