2. Sales of commercial buildings
In 2016, the floor space of commercial buildings sold stood at 1.57 billion square meters, an increase of 22.5 percent over last year, and a decrease of 1.8 percentage points over the first eleven months. The floor space of residential buildings increased 22.4 percent, office building space increased 31.4 percent, and buildings for business use increased 16.8 percent. The sales of commercial buildings amounted to 11.76 trillion yuan, an increase of 34.8 percent, and a rate decline of 2.7 percentage points. Specifically, the sales of residential buildings were up by 36.1 percent, office buildings were up by 45.8 percent, and buildings for commercial businesses were up by 19.5 percent.
In 2016, the sale of floor space of commercial buildings in eastern regions amounted to 728.94 million square meters, an increase of 22.7 percent over last year, down by 2.8 percentage points over the first eleven months. The amount of sales stood at 7.23 trillion yuan, an increase of 38.7 percent and a rate decrease of 3.6 percentage points. The sale of floor space of commercial buildings in central regions amounted to 461.08 million square meters, an increase of 28.4 percent and a rate decrease of 2.3 percentage points. The amount of sales stood at 2.53 trillion yuan, a rise of 38.7 percent, and a rate decrease of 3.3 percentage points. The sale of floor space of commercial buildings in western regions amounted to 383.46 million square meters, an increase of 15.6 percent, and a rate decrease of 0.2 percentage points. The amount of sales stood at 2.0 trillion yuan, up by 18.3 percent, and a decrease of 0.3 percentage points.
At the end of 2016, the floor space of commercial housing for sale reached 695.39 million square meters, an increase of 44.4 million square meters compared with that at the end of November. Residential buildings for sale decreased by 2.0 million square meters, office buildings increased 1.95 million square meters, and buildings for business use increased 2.34 million square meters.
