1. The 4th Investing in Africa Forum
The 4th Investing in Africa Forum was held in Changsha, the capital of Central China’s Hunan province, Nov 6, 2018, attended by more than 400 people from China and African countries.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Finance, the Hunan Provincial People's Government, the Development Bank of China and the World Bank, the forum ran on the theme of "Deepen investment cooperation and innovation to promote sustainable development and shared prosperity for China and Africa".
The forum provided a platform for both sides to host policy dialogues and explore business opportunities, breaking new ground for investment and cooperation between the two regions. A wide range of theme activities were staged at the forum, including an opening ceremony, high-level roundtable conferences, and thematic seminars centering on agricultural modernization, cultural education, climate change, new energy development, medical treatment and public health, the digital economy and innovation.
2. China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo
The first China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo will be held in Changsha June 27, and will permanently settle in the city.
Themed "Achieve win-win cooperation and promote Sino-African economic and trade relations", the three-day event will consist of 14 activities, including conferences, forums and exhibitions, and has so far attracted 233 cooperation projects, worth approximately $74.7 billion.
There will be six exhibition areas that cover 43,000 square meters, including national pavilions and display areas for enterprises that showcase the achievements and opportunities of China-Africa economic and trade cooperation.
An online fair will be held and an exhibition hall established for long-term exhibition and sales of quality African products.
Launched under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the expo will establish a new mechanism for economic and trade cooperation between China and African countries.
3. China Miluo River International Dragon Boat Festival
Miluo county in Yueyang, Central China’s Hunan province is the birthplace of the Dragon Boat Festival for the Chinese, celebrated each year on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the lunar calendar. The festival is to commemorate Qu Yuan (340-278 BC), minister of the State of Chu and one of China's earliest poets.
Since 1987, Yueyang city has hosted the large annual international dragon boat festival which integrates sports, culture, business and tourism. The festival was listed as one of the 23 most important festival activities facing overseas markets by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in order to promote the city’s international status at a higher level and to strengthen its development potential and vitality.
