If you have been to Europe, have you seen a tall tree with white flowers in parks? Its flowers have only two petals, resembling the wings of a dove, and the stamen in the middle looks like the eye of a dove, so many people call it the "dove tree".

It is a unique wild species in China, growing in the mountains of Sichuan, Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou, and other regions. The dove tree is known as the "giant panda of the plant kingdom" and the "living fossil of plants", not only because it is unique to China, but also because it has survived on Earth for 60 million years.

In the Wawu Mountain National Forest Park in Hongya county, Meishan city, Sichuan province, there are 20,000 hectares of dove trees, making it one of the largest homes of the tree in China.

China Daily reporters Yan Dongjie and Owen Fishwick are now at the Wawu Mountain. Join them to explore the dove trees there!
