Rugao, Malaysia's Sabah state seek closer ties

A Malaysian delegation led by Phoong Jin Zhe, minister of industrial development and entrepreneurship of the state of Sabah, Malaysia, met with He Yijun, Party secretary of Rugao, Nantong, Jiangsu province on March 22. The two parties held discussions on how to enhance comprehensive cooperation.

He emphasized Rugao's focus on developing six key industrial chains, including automobiles and components, new power equipment, and healthcare. He expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation with Sabah, particularly in industries like new energy, healthcare, and new power equipment. He also encouraged more Malaysian companies to invest in Rugao and explore opportunities for mutual growth.

Phoong expressed Sabah's keen interest in fostering friendly partnerships with Rugao and expressed hopes to learn from Rugao's experiences in modernization and industrialization. Sabah, known for its abundant mineral, timber, and tourism resources, as well as its strategic location, aims to leverage the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China to deepen cooperation with Rugao for the mutual benefit of both regions, added Phoong.
