The creation of sand sculptures for the 25th China International Sand Sculpture Festival started at the Nanshan scenic area on Zhujiajian Island in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province on March 12.

Nearly 60 meticulously designed sand sculptures are set to be crafted, with the goal of showcasing the culture, geography, and history portrayed in the Classic of Mountains and Seas, or Shan Hai Jing, according to authorities.

The completion of these artworks is scheduled for the end of April, followed by an exhibition running from May 2024 to February 2025.

This year's festival promises fresh innovations and breakthroughs in the content, visual effects, and layout of the sand sculptures. The content spans a wide array of subjects, blending traditional mythological stories with modern innovative elements.

Visual effects will incorporate features like waterfall cascades and misty forests, infusing the sand sculpture showcase area with a dynamic and lively ambiance. The layout, characterized by winding paths, will create an enchanting atmosphere.

Moreover, the event will feature a series of interactive and entertaining activities, providing visitors with opportunities to actively engage and partake in the festive atmosphere.
