The Hangzhou International Airport experienced the peak of the Spring Festival travel rush with 899 flight takeoffs and landings on Feb 16, transporting a record of nearly 150,000 passengers in a single day.

Starting from the third day of the Lunar New Year, the airport has been operating at high capacity, with daily passenger throughput exceeding 140,000 people for five days in a row.

From Jan 26 to Feb 16, the airport saw a total of 19,800 takeoffs and landings, transporting 2.94 million passengers, increases of 30.8 percent and 60.3 percent, respectively, compared to 2023.

Domestic flights are mainly concentrated in cities such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Chengdu, Kunming, and Xi'an, with passenger occupancy exceeding 90 percent. Recently, return flights from popular tourist destinations such as Sanya and Harbin have been in high demand. Hangzhou Airport has actively coordinated with airlines to increase flight capacity on these routes, ensuring smooth journeys for passengers returning home.

Additionally, with the implementation of visa-free policies for countries such as Singapore and Thailand, the total number of inbound and outbound passengers during the holiday is expected to exceed 500,000, a year-on-year growth of over 400 percent. The airport has added charter flights for international routes to destinations such as Kalibo in the Philippines, Male in the Maldives, and Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam during the Spring Festival, increasing the number of outbound flights from 237 per week in early January to 275 per week.
