Photos of Jinan exhibited in Wakayama to celebrate 40th anniversary of sister-city ties

A photography exhibition of Jinan was held in Wakayama, Japan on Jan 30 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of sister city relations between the two cities, with about 70 people participating.

Chinese Consul General in Osaka Xue Jian spoke at the opening ceremony. He said that since the formal establishment of sister city relations between Jinan and Wakayama in 1983, the two cities have been promoting practical cooperation and engaging in cultural exchanges. The photography exhibitions held in each city will deepen mutual understanding between the people of the two cities and strengthen friendly relations.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of sister city relations between Shandong province and Wakayama Prefecture. Xue also said he hoped that Jinan and Wakayama, both as capital cities, would continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields and work towards building a community of shared development.

Vice-mayor of Wakayama said that the city attaches great importance to its sister city cooperation with Jinan, and is willing to continue promoting the friendly tradition, hoping to advance the relationship to a new level.

Jinan Mayor Yu Haitian sent a congratulatory letter, saying that Wakayama is the first international sister city of Jinan. Over the past 40 years, the two sides have worked hand in hand and carried out extensive exchanges and cooperation in various fields. He also expressed hope that the event will contribute to the cultural exchanges between the two cities, enhance mutual understanding and deepen their friendship.
