Zhoushan in Zhejiang province has in recent years been working to increase the accessibility of charging infrastructure by significantly bolstering the construction of public charging piles and advocating for the addition and refurbishment of charging infrastructure in older residential areas.

Authorities have expedited the development of plans for the layout of new energy vehicle charging facilities, methodically determining the placement and construction of charging pile locations, and hastening the establishment of a charging network in which charging piles are within a five-minute drive in urban areas and 30-minute drive in rural areas.

Since 2023, Zhoushan installed 367 new public charging piles, resulting in a total of 2,084 public charging piles.

To increase charging accessibility in older residential areas for new energy vehicles, the city has integrated the renovation of power facilities in these areas with the shantytown and old community renovation projects.

As a result, 37 communities have completed the upgrade of their power distribution facilities, adding 10,523 new charging points since last year.

Furthermore, the city has introduced a public service platform for charging infrastructure, seamlessly integrating platform data into applications such as "Qiandao Parking" and "Zheliban," offering swift and convenient charging pile navigation services.

Authorities in Zhoushan are committed to further improving the operation model of public charging piles. They are encouraging charging operators to establish charging stations that combine photovoltaics, energy storage, and charging piles and actively explore new models such as mobile shared charging piles.
