Hechi's primary industry steadily develops

Hechi's agricultural industry has continued to develop strongly this year. In the first half of this year, the total output value of Hechi's agricultural, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishing industries reached 13.49 billion yuan ($1.85 billion), a year-on-year growth of 3.6 percent.

In recent years, Yizhou district has been promoting the integrated development of the sericulture industry. Currently, its mulberry fields cover an area of nearly 1 million mu (66,667 hectares), and the scale of sericulture production has remained the highest among all prefecture-level cities in China for 19 consecutive years.

The city has also introduced supportive policies to stimulate the development of the vegetable and edible mushroom industries. In the first half of this year, the vegetable sector alone contributed 21.1 percent to the overall growth of the agricultural, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishing industry, a 0.8 percent increase.

Moreover, the city has been promoting the development of fruit cultivation. Efforts have been made to transform low-yield orchards, optimize fruit planting structures, and promote the development of the special plum industry, particularly in Nandan and Tian'e counties.

Hechi's livestock industry, especially in cattle and sheep farming, has always remained at the forefront of Guangxi. The sheep industry in Du'an Yao autonomous county has formed a complete production layout.

Hechi is a pioneer in green development within the region, with the forestry industry has making steady progress. In the first half of this year, Hechi afforested an area of 24,879 hectares and harvested 2.44 million cubic meters of timber.
