April 25 marked the second anniversary of the approval by the State Council, China's Cabinet, of the Jinan Start-up Area for Growth Drivers Transformation, which is located in northern Jinan, the capital of East China's Shandong province. The area aims to promote regional integration, spans 798 square kilometers and is the second of its kind in China following the start-up area of Xiong'an New Area in North China's Hebei province.

In the past two years, Jinan has built three new bridges and tunnels across the Yellow River. The city also plans to build 14 more bridges crossing the Yellow River in the next few years, which will expand the total number to 30.

In January 2022, eight months after being approved by the State Council of building the start-up area, the construction of the Jinan Yellow River Bridge expansion project was started. As the first bridge on the Yellow River to be expanded, the new Jinan Yellow River Bridge is planned to be built into a super transportation complex.

After 16 months of construction, the lower structure of the main part of the new bridge has been completed, the main tower of the bridge is about to be capped, and the steel truss beam has been erected more than halfway.

In addition to the steady progress of the new Jinan Yellow River Bridge, other bridges cross Yellow River channels are also being constructed simultaneously.

The 14th Five-Year Plan for Comprehensive Transportation Development of Jinan points out that the start-up area will accelerate the construction of the rail transit network and promote the construction of the tunnels and bridges along the Yellow River.
