Beijing's GDP growth hits 3.1% in Q1

Chinese capital's GDP reached 994.77 billion yuan ($144.44 billion), with a year-on-year growth of 3.1 percent in the first quarter this year, which means 2.4 percentage points higher than the growth of the whole year of 2022, the statistics bureau of Beijing said on Thursday.

The added value of primary industry reached 1.47 billion yuan for the first quarter, up 2.3 percent year-on-year. The added value of secondary industries was 122.81 billion yuan during the same period, down by 6 percent year-on-year.

The added value of the service industry reached 870.5 billion yuan, up by 4.6 percent year-on year, according to the bureau.

With the pandemic now steadily controlled, the city's orderly production and life has gradually recovered and the overall economy has picked up.

The city's statistics authority said market expectations have continuously improved, and the economy has achieved a good start.
