April 7 marked World Health Day, with the 2023 World Health Expo kicking off in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province.

The event, co-hosted by the National Health Commission and the Hubei and Wuhan governments, is China's only State-level expo focusing on health and features an array of health experts and enterprises.

The expo, with a total exhibition area of 90,000 square meters, included booths for more than 1,000 firms dealing with medical equipment, biomedical drugs, and medical technologies, including 29 of the world's and China's Fortune 500 companies.

More than 100 enterprises are based in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), which showcased a number of antibodies, vaccines and new drug products.

By the end of 2021, Hubei's health industry reported 756.4 billion yuan ($109.68 billion) in sales revenues of enterprises above a designated size, ranking among the best in China.
