Pingtan holds 1st National Baseball5 Championship

The two-day 1st National Baseball5 Championship ended in Pingtan, Fujian province on March 12. This is also the first Baseball5 Championship held in China after the Chinese Baseball Association included this game into the national championship sequence in 2022.

Baseball5 is a new, exciting, international version of the game, consisting of two teams of five and modified rules. It is a street version of baseball and softball that is fast paced and can be played anywhere as it requires no special equipment other than a rubber ball. 

The championship consisted of 74 games and 18 teams from Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan, Shandong, Henan, Fujian and other provinces participated in the competition.

"The rules of Baseball5 are simple, easy to learn, and the requirements for the venue are not high. The event will surely help promote this sport", said Tian Yuan, executive director of the China Baseball Association.
